Taylor Swift 2016 new album release date, rumors: surprise drop not likely this month

There are a lot of talks surrounding Taylor Swift's next album, with reports suggesting that the award-winning pop star will surprise-drop it this month.

Fans have reason to believe that Swift will release her follow-up to the sweeping success of an album that is "1989" this month, specifically on Oct. 23, which will mark the 10th anniversary of her first album.

The "Shake It Off" hitmaker is rumored to announce the album at her upcoming Formula One U.S. Grand Prix concert in Austin, which is set to take place on Oct. 22 — making for a perfect timing.

An October release for a new Taylor Swift album makes sense for the reason that the singer launched all her previous albums but one ("Fearless" was released November 2008) on the said month, with a two-year gap.

Swift's friend, Gigi Hadid, also told Entertainment Tonight that the singer "is starting to go back to work in the studio again," which suggests that Swift has something in store for her fans.

However, it is also to be taken into account the remarks Swift said during an interview with Vogue back in May. She was adamant about going on a hiatus.

"This is the first time in 10 years that I haven't known [what's next]," the 26-year-old singer said. "I just decided that after the past year, with all of the unbelievable things that happened...I decided I was going to live my life a little bit without the pressure on myself to create something," she went on to say.

MTV also believes that releasing the sixth album can wait as Swift needs to lay low after all the things that happened this year — making headlines about her and Tom Hiddleston's relationship and her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian about her involvement in the rapper's song, "Famous."

She also did a successful string of concerts, and her "1989" album definitely catapulted her to new heights in the past couple of years.

That being said, if Swift is planning something for fans this year, Mashable surmises that she could debut a new song at her upcoming AT&T Super Bowl weekend concert. But a full-on album might not happen this year.
