'Supernatural' season 11 spoilers, plot rumors: Death's death and Darkness' takeover are interconnected

When the previous season of "Supernatural" ended, Darkness was let loose and Death was killed by Dean. Apparently, these two course-altering events have to do with each other and the premiere episode of season 11 will jump right into that.

Showrunner Jeremy Carver told Blastr in an interview that Darkness' agenda will not just be something the Winchester brothers alone will feel and deal with. In fact, Darkness will be a "global threat," one that angels and demons will contend with as well.

The death of Death, which happened in the hands of Sam in the season 10 finale, will "create some issues, particularly among souls, particularly among reapers," writer Andrew Dabb teased. He added that his disappearance will be tackled over the first half of the new season.

With such a big threat looming, Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam, is excited that "the brothers are a team again" in "Supernatural" season 11. This is something the series hasn't shown for a while. The new season is definitely one the hunters are reunited.

"This season is going to be reuniting us against a Big Bad, which is something we've done before, but it's changing it up and giving us a new focus," Misha Collins, whose character Castiel will still be under Rowena's spell upon the show's return, told Blastr.

As for Jeffrey Dean Morgan's possible return in "Supernatural" season 11 as Sam and Dean's father, Ackles told Pop Sugar that this could happen "if it works organically with the writers, and if they can find a way where it makes sense." Besides, Morgan is very much willing to return.

"Supernatural" season 11 premieres October 7. It will welcome a new baddie named Amara, who arrives on Earth with a mission that certainly will endanger it. The character will be played by Emily Shallow. The episode she appears in will be directed by Ackles.
