The CW television show, "Supergirl," fans may have just been heartbroken by the break-up between Alex Danvers, played by Chyler Leigh, and Maggie Sawyer, played by Floriana Lima. This begs the question as to what is next for the characters now that they are apart. Also, a family reunion has already been revealed for the 15th episode.

In a scoop by Entertainment Weekly, executive producer of the show, Andrew Kreisberg, was asked if Alex will be linked with another character in the near future. Kreisberg stated that as far as Alex is concerned, her future is something that fans will not be able to expect. Additionally, he promised that Alex will be "having fun" in the upcoming episodes, in a way that still alludes to Alex's relationship with Maggie.

At the very least, fans of the show should be comforted by the fact that despite Maggie and Alex calling it quits, Alex will still be making appearances for the foreseeable future. Fans should expect something "funny and sweet" in Alex's narrative. It is important to note that, of course, Alex will not be getting over the heartbreak she is experiencing any time soon, according to International Business Times. The healing process will take a while.

Fans may also be concerned on whether Alex will become straight in light of recent events, but this will not be the case since the show runners want to delve deeper into this particular aspect of her character.

In other news, TV Line has revealed that Laurie Metcalf will be appearing on the show as Winn Schott's mother, played by Jeremy Jordan. No details have been revealed about this particular plot line, but the 15th episode will be airing sometime in 2018.

"Supergirl" season 3 airs on Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
