Mon-El, played by Chris Wood, is coming back on the next episode of the superhero TV series "Supergirl" season 3.

Next week's "The Darkest Place" will be an emotional episode for Kara Danvers and her alter-ego Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) as her love interest, Mon-El, comes back after being missing in the first few installments of the series' third season.

The finale of the superhero series' second installment saw a tearful goodbye between the two lovers, as the Girl of Steele was forced to send her boyfriend off to space. Unfortunately for the lead hero, the lead poisoning she used to beat the villain Rhea also made it impossible for Daxamite Prince Mon-El to survive on Earth.

In the first six episodes of season 2, Kara had to battle both physical villains and the emotional strain of losing her boyfriend. However, basing on the promo for the next episode, it looks like accepting his miraculous return would be as difficult as coping up with his previous departure.

After the pleasant surprise of their initial meeting, Kara will start noticing odd things about Mon-El that will test her trust.

Benoist earlier told reporters that "It won't be the reunion you expect."

Mon-El's whereabouts remains to be a great mystery among fans, who know that the final moments of season 1 showed his capsule being bumped off course into a portal to another dimension.

The couple's chance encounter will happen in the mysterious ship stuck underwater in National City. The ship belongs to the Legion of Super-Heroes, which include Saturn Girl (Amy Jackson) and Brainiac 5 (Jesse Rath), future allies of the season's main villain Reign (Odette Annable). Mon-El is also a long-standing member of the Legion.

Wherever Mon-El was in the past episodes, it was earlier reported that this will be the central mystery of season 3.

Catch the much-awaited Kara–Mon-El reunion as "Supergirl" episode 7 airs on Monday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
