It's that time of the year when football season starts. For non-football fans, it simply means watching the biggest singers perform in the half-time show. Who is taking the stage this year?

It is another female singer who will be taking the lead onstage this Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show and it is none other than Katy Perry. She will be joined by Lenny Kravitz during her 12-minute performance. Of course, Perry is very excited to join the ranks of Madonna, Beyonce, U2, Paul McCartney and a whole lot more.

But to make things a bit more interesting, Perry revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she's got tons of surprises planned, including having another guest singer on the stage with her.

"I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve. But I can't tell you everything. I'm gonna let people just think about it," she said. And when asked further, she dropped a hint saying, "Let's just say female empowerment."

Fans immediately began to speculate that this female guest singer might actually be Rihanna, who is set to launch her new album "R8" this year.

Other singers who will be taking the stage are Idina Menzel and John Legend. Menzel will sing the National Anthem and open up the festivities, while Legend will be singing "America The Beautiful."

Elsewhere, a new development has surfaced regarding the live streaming of the halftime show. YouTube confirmed to Bloomberg that they are actually producing their own halftime show, wherein they will feature popular online artists and even fake SuperBowl ads.

Two of the artists to be featured are Freddie Wong and Tony Turner. Google believes that their inclusion should be a fair match to Perry and Kravitz. The whole point of this event is to highlight YouTube's advertisements.

Fred Gaudelli, coordinating producer of Super Bowl XLIX agrees with the idea, saying ""People aren't leaving the room during the commercial, they aren't changing the channel during the commercial."

Super Bowl XLIX will kick off on Feb. 1, 2015. The Super Bowl 2015 will be live streaming for free on NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC.com, and the NBC Sports Live Extra app.
