'Street Fighter 5' beta 2: cross-platform play scheduled on Oct. 23

The second beta for "Street Fighter 5" is set to start tomorrow and this time, developer Capcom has prepared specific dates for both PS4 gamers and PC players, who weren't too happy about how the first schedule did not allow them to fully experience the event.

Cross-platform play begins on Oct. 23 but not after a server downtime that starts at 2:00 PST and ends at 9:00 PST. "This is a first for us and we are very excited for players across both platforms to finally have a chance to battle one another," Capcom wrote in an earlier post.

The developer reminded participants to bring out their "best strategies as the number of people that you can fight against will be that much larger this time around," it warned. But before all that, PS4 will get into the action first with Oct. 21 reserved for the start of their second "Street Fighter5" beta experience.

On 6:00 PT, gamers with the said console will be able to check out the game with characters Ken, Necalli, Vega and R. Mika. They are the only fighters selectable because the rest namely Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy, Birdie, Nash, and M. Bison were made available in the first beta.

On Oct. 22, the servers will be down but the following day, players should be able to access Rashid. By 17:00 PST on Oct.23, Karin will be added in the list as well. More downtime on Oct. 24 and by the Oct. 25, the "Street Fighter" beta reaches its conclusion.

Of course, the dates are still subject to change. So to get more details about the scheduling and be updated should there be any alterations, visit Capcom-Unity. One caveat the game studio posted is that participants shouldn't expect a flawless beta, not that it did not work hard to provide such.

"Let's not forget that this is a beta. That said, players may experience some issues during their playtime, which we'll be monitoring. All the information received during the beta is to help ensure the final product is as optimized as possible," Capcom assured.
