
Rumors concerning Steven Gerrard joining the LA Galaxy has finally been put to rest. Gerrard officially signed up with the LA Galaxy, making the Anfield Legend the third Designated Player of the club.
The 34-year old midfielder is expected to join the reigning MLS champions once the summer transfer window comes around this July. Per reports, Gerrard will be signing an 18 month contract which will be worth around $6 million annually.
Gerrard was ecstatic about joining the Galaxy which he considers one of the most successful clubs in Major League Soccer. The midfielder likewise added that he is looking to help bring more championships to the Galaxy and give them is all. Gerrard will play out the remainder of the season with Liverpool before joining the LA Galaxy.
Gerrard is the longest-serving captain of LLC and has made 695 appearances in 17 seasons. To date, he has scored a record 180 goals in all the competitions he has played in.
What makes Gerrard's coming to the Galaxy something to look forward to is that he is a proven winner. He has led Liverpool to 10 major trophies in the past 15 years and has been well-decorated individually. Among his individual achievements include being named the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year in 2005.
Come July, Gerrard will be officially the third Designated player in the lineup. Current Designated players include Robbie Keanne and Omar Gonzales. Gerrard will be taking the slot of Landon Donovan who went into retirement after the 2014 season.
