With "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hitting the silver screen in less than two months, fans may already be polishing their outfit for the momentous event. But those planning to watch on Cinemark and AMC are advised to "leave the blaster and Darth Vader mask at home."
The latter has announced that any weapons "or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable or detract from the movie-going experience" as it described, will not be permitted, although bringing a lightsaber is okay. Also, the cinema house strictly prohibits wearing masks during the screening.
Cinemark, on the other hand, is banning lightsabers in the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" showing. Moviegoers wearing anything the covers or obscures the face will not be allowed entry. All other costumes besides those should be fine.
According to IGN, the rules imposed by AMC and Cinemark are simply safety precautions and an effort to avoid tragedies and shootings. Cinema Blend, on the other hand, believes the ban will also help fans be more creative with their costumes.
Meanwhile, in related "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" news, unnamed sources cited by Daily Mail are claiming that Daisy Ridley's character Rey, contrary to what some media outlets and fans believe, isn't the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia.
She is, however, a very important character as the intergalactic scavenger, as per the aforementioned publication's insiders also claim, will be the "glue" that should put the plot of the movie together.
Meanwhile, fans are also psyched to see another female character in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in the person of Captain Phasma. "Game of Thrones" star Gwendoline Christie plays the role of the First Order officer and she couldn't be more excited about it.
"We know very little about her at this stage, but what I think people are drawn to is that this is a very progressive female character," the actress, who considers the stint "a fangirl's dream" told Entertainment Weekly.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be out Dec. 18.
