'Star Wars: Battlefront' is now EA's 'major first-person shooter' game as it becomes a reboot

The upcoming addition to the "Star Wars" series will officially be called "Star Wars: Battlefront." The game was made non-canon and, in order to label it as a reboot rather than a sequel to "Battlefront II," Electronic Arts and game developer DICE dropped the "III" from its title.  According to Cinema Blend, this stunt may be their fail-safe approach to "milk for as much money as they possibly can."

Yet it only appears that Star Wars fans are just in for some big treats before 2015 draws to a close. On Oct. 29, Electronic Arts finally told fans that the new title will hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms during the 2015 holiday season. The release, which may fall in the month of November or December, is delightfully in accord with the screening of JJ Abrams' highly-anticipated "Star Wars" film, "Star Wars Episode VII."

However, in conjunction with the announcement was the news that the third-person game play would no longer be a fad in the new title, despite the game's popularity as a third-person series. Blake Jorgensen, Electronic Arts Chief Financial Officer, stirred up quite an uproar from fans when he described "Star Wars: Battlefront" as EA's first "major first-person shooter" for 2015. This may be due to DICE's unparalleled knowledge with the first person theme. While it is a bold take, Crave Online hopes that sales would not be spoiled even after the major selling point of the series was gotten rid of.

On the other hand, Cinema Blend echoed many gamers' fear that the game engine used, the Frostbite 3, may be too powerful for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles to handle. Taking that into consideration, the game may turn out to include a few inbuilt features complemented with pristine and crisp visuals and details. Meanwhile, Game Ranx remarked that DICE can look into the inclusion of Death Troopers in the game.
