After T-Mobile rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update to its HTC One (M8) handsets, Sprint immediately followed suit. The confirmation came from Twitter wherein multiple users posted that they started receiving notifications of the update on their devices.

This is not the first time that the update was spotted on the device. The latest software was rolled out earlier to the unlocked model and Google Play Edition variants of the handset. Carriers in Europe and Canada started to roll out the firmware upgrade. It is a no-brainer that U.S. carriers, too, are starting to provide the upgrade to their subscribers.

Sprint is sending notifications over-the-air that users need to tap and download. Device owners need to connect to a Wi-Fi network and have at least 50 percent battery life when downloading the OS update.

If no notification has been received, users can check the Settings > General > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates to install the new operating system. But, just like the other software updates, the upgrade will be released in phases, which means that the OS will not arrive on all handsets at once and some users may receive the firmware update earlier than the others.

Android 5.0 Lollipop brings forth new features and improvements to the handset, including the new Material Design user interface that changes the whole look of the icons. The smartphone will also pack a new Smart Lock, Intelligent Notifications ranking, and Device Sharing functions, and will be equipped with the new Recents multitasking and search features in the Settings menu, Android ART Runtime, lock screen notification controls, security improvements and a wide range of new functions.

Despite being a year old, the HTC One (M8) is still considered as one of the top smartphones in the market that received high praises from critics and tech reviewers.
