Developer Insomniac Games has released a new trailer for the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive "Spider-Man," revealing new villains and a few Easter eggs.

The teaser, which was shown at Sony's PlayStation Showcase at Paris Games Week 2017, shows Spider-Man at the height of his powers and battling the deadly super villain Mister Negative.

In the game, Peter Parker is 23 years old and has been fighting criminals as Spider-Man for eight years. His Aunt May is working for a philanthropist named Martin Li, the alter ego of Mister Negative. Mary Jane is a reporter for the Daily Bugle while Peter is a struggling scientist, barely making ends meet.

In an interview with IGN, Insomniac Games Creative Director Bryan Intihar revealed that not only Spider-Man can be played in the game, but also Peter and a bit of Mary Jane. Intihar explained that this is their way of staying true to the original DNA of the "Spider-Man" universe, while also giving fans something different from what they are used to.

"OK, you see the look, she looks like MJ, she's got the red hair, but her role in this universe is probably a little bit different to what people have expected before," he said. That's certainly something fans can look forward to.

As for gameplay, Intihar assured fans that it will involve a lot of action — from acrobatics to mid-air combos and parkour. Of course, Spidey will be often seen swinging from one building to another. The best part about it is that, unlike other games, players will not have to wait a while for their powers to appear.

"The first time you're swinging, the first time you're fighting, you need to feel like Spider-Man," Intihar said.

The upcoming game is being made in partnership with Marvel, and fans were quick to notice some hidden elements from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Reddit users spotted the fictional residence of Doctor Strange in the latest teaser. And now, they are wondering if other iconic Marvel structures can be seen and visited in the game too, like the Avengers' Mansion, Avengers' Tower, Baxter Building and the X-mansion.

No official date yet on when "Spider-Man" will be released but it is scheduled for sometime in 2018.
