'Spider-Man' actor Tom Holland drops biggest hint he's starring in 'Uncharted' movie

"Spider-Man" actor Tom Holland teased his fans about the upcoming "Uncharted" movie, dropping the biggest hint that he is starring in it.

In an Instagram story captured by Twitter user Cade Onder, the English actor posted the title screen of "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection" and captioned it with the phrase: "for research purposes."

The 21-year-old Peter Parker actor has been linked to the video game's movie adaptation since May, and this since-deleted post further solidifies the rumors that he is locked in as Nathan Drake.

Throwing the name of 21-year-old actor Holland on the list means the film really is looking into a younger version of the protagonist seen in the adventure-shooter games. Earlier names attached to the film were 38-year-old "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Chris Pratt and 46-year-old "Castle" actor Nathan Fillion. But if the movie is really looking for a younger lead, looks like both men are out of the game.

The "Uncharted" video game franchise follows the story of Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter who journeys across the world to uncover historical mysteries. The film adaptation is said to be a prequel to all the games so far released.

Directed by "Stranger Things" producer Shawn Levy, the film will reportedly focus on Drake as a young thief and his transformation into a treasure hunter. It will also show his first encounter with the professional rogue Sullivan.

First released in 2007, the idea of an "Uncharted" film adaptation has been in the rumor mill since 2009, but it has never materialized, until now. With a director and possible protagonist now on board, fans are delighted that it is finally pushing through.

Still, it would be best to wait for a confirmation before celebrating Holland's newest project. After all, many writers, producers, and key actors have come and left the "Uncharted" film productions, after being stalled for years.
