Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet release date, specs rumors: Features to include quad HD display

 Sony Mobile

The release of the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet may happen at the Mobile World Congress scheduled next week, as indicated by an accidental leak in Sony's website.

Sony inadvertently put out an official Xperia Lounge application, which it quickly pulled out, but not before various tech publications took a screenshot of the webpage. Xperia Blog posted a screenshot that revealed some of the specifications of the device. For one, the Japanese tech company accidentally revealed that the device will sport a 2K pixel resolution and faster processor.

"Sony is now introducing the new Xperia Z4 Tablet: Sony's stunning 2K display combines with the latest ultra fast processor and industry leading battery performance delivers unrivalled entertainment in a lightweight premium," the post read before it was removed.

A date March 3, 2015 was posted in the website, too, thus it is speculated that this is the release date of the Xperia Z4 tablet, which is the second day of the MWC trade show.

It was previously reported that the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet will be released alongside the Xperia Z4 smartphone. Sony was rumored to release a device with a 12-inch screen, and DigiTimes cited supply sources back in December that the tablet would shortly head to mass production.

Furthermore, Chinese tech website PadNews published a spec sheet of the said tablet with the following details:

  • 12.97 inches Triluminos IPS display with X-Reality engine and 3840 x 2400 pixel resolution
  • 2.86 GHz Snapdragon 810 processor from Qualcomm
  • 6 GB RAM
  • 64 GB internal storage
  • 12,100 mAh battery capacity
  • PS4 Remote Play feature
  • 8-megapixel camera with 1/2.3″ Exmor RS sensor with f/1.8 Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* lens
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system

The Japanese OEM manufacturer is expected to update its line of mobile devices, including the Xperia Z4, the Xperia Z4 Compact, the Xperia Z4 Ultra (phablet), and a regular, 10-inch Xperia Z4 tablet. The slate is reportedly priced for $1,000.

However, Sony has not yet revealed more information about the device, but it is undoubtedly coming soon.
