Sony teases new Xperia Z3 smartphones before IFA launch: What to expect

Sony, an eager participant of the upcoming IFA trade show in Berlinand, leaked its smartphone, Xperia Z3, ahead of its launch.

This is supported by a post on Xperia's Blog which reads: "Mark your diaries Sony fans, we have received word that Sony's 2014 IFA press conference will be taking place on Wednesday 3rd September from 16:15 to 17:00 CEST. Expect new smartphones such as the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact to be announced along with hopefully some new wearables such as the SmartWatch 3 and the latest iteration of lens-style cameras."

IFA 2014 is happening next week and Sony released a videos teaser for the events, which hinted that it may release three new devices. In the short video, Sony teased that it will launch two new smartphones and a tablet based on the silhouette. This could be the Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.

Sony Xperia Z3 will resemble its predecessor, Sony Xperia Z2, in terms of design and form factor. The Z3 was purported to pack a 5.2 inche Full HD screen display, 2.3GHz quad core Snapdragon 801processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD card slot for additional storage as well as 20.7 MP rear camera and a 2-megapixel front shooter. The Xperia Z3Compact will pack downgraded specs.

Meanwhile, Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is reported to have a 7 or 8 inch screen panel, which appeared to be the smaller version of the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. Rumors claimed that the tablet will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and a Full HD display resolution.

The watch, on the other hand, could be the newest member of Sony's SmartWatch family. The SmartWatch 2 was launched in mid-2013 and with the release of other smartwatches from LG and Samsung, it is likely that the company will release the new wearable this time.
