In a move that Sony hopes will improve its current standing in the mobile phone market segment, new leaks reveal that the Japan-based company is all set to unveil a selfie-centric device that will be known as the Sony Xperia Cosmos.
The name does sound something new but it is actually not. The said handset is believed to be the much talked about Sony Xperia C4, a mid-range handset that has been rumored for some time now. This was confirmed by Upleaks through Twitter.
Official details about the much speculated Sony Xperia Cosmos or Xperia C4 are scarce at the moment. But if we base it on rumors, it is believed that the mid-range device will come with a large front-facing camera with LED flash, a reason why the phone has been christened as something made for people who love to pose and take selfies. The only problem is that its actual megapixel has yet to be revealed.
It is expected to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop and is said to be something that will run on a MediaTek processor. The Xperia Cosmos or Xperia C4 is expected to come with a built-in 4G LTE network support as well.
That is practically about it for now although a proper starting point for potential buyers to bank on would be what the Xperia C3 has to offer at the moment.
Hence, that could mean an improvement from the current quad core 1.2 GHz Cortez A7 CPU, 1GB of internal RAM, at least 8GB of storage which can be expanded through microSD (up to 32GB).
What makes the Sony Xperia Cosmos or Xperia C4 appealing is that it should be reasonably priced for buyers, particularly the ones who are looking for a reliable front-facing and selfie-taking camera.
There is no official word for now on when it would be released although a safe bet would be July, 2015, one year after the Sony Xperia C3 officially hit the market.
