Selena Gomez thanks Bishop TD Jakes for 'unbelievable message': 'Had me in tears'

Selena Gomez has thrown herself into faith, family and the community following another reported split from her on-off boyfriend Justin Bieber.

The singer shared a picture on her Instagram on Sunday with TD Jakes, pastor of The Potter's House Church, in Dallas, Texas.

She appeared in a simple black outfit and appeared to be barefaced as she smiled warmly for the picture with Jakes.

In the caption, the 22-year-old thanked the pastor for his sermon, saying: "Unbelievable message. Had me in tears. Thank you Bishop for reminding me why I should always keep going."

Gomez has been spotted at church a few times this year and was said to have been moved to tears by the preaching at Judah Smith's Jesus Is conference in LA during the spring.

One person at the conference, Taylor Hodge, tweeted that she had seen Gomez "crying and praying in the spirit".

The latest sermon clip added to Jakes's YouTube page is titled "Short-Changed – Season of Restoration".

In it he says: "I've made it but alas, I've been short-changed.  The Lord says he has not forgotten what you didn't get and you are going to come into a season of restoration and I will restore unto you the years that …the locusts ate up. God said I'm going to give you double."

Gomez has been pointing people to specific passages in the Bible via her Twitter account lately, like Colossians 3.23: "In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work as if you were doing it for the Lord, not for people."

In another, she shared Psalm 46.10: "Be still and know that I am God. I will be praised in all the nations; I will be praised throughout the earth."

In one tweet about being back home with family, she shared Mark 2.1, which references Jesus's return home just before his healing of the paralyzed man.

She's also shared some pictures about her charitable work the Children's Hospital LA, where she recently stopped by to meet some of the children being treated there and hear their stories.

Justin Bieber has also been spending some time with his family after apparently parting ways with Gomez.

He headed to Europe last week with his father Jeremy and stopped by the Vatican for a private tour, where he reportedly annoyed staff by kicking a football around. He is reported to have paid 20,000 euros for the after-hours tour.
