'Scandal' season 6 spoilers: Major character to die?

A promotional still from "Scandal" ABC

It looks like the presidential election will be literally deadly come "Scandal" season 6 as danger and death await a major character.

The trailer released for the new season shows a cabin blown up to smithereens, and if the reports are to be believed, someone was inside it, and their life will now be in serious danger.

This suggests that "Scandal" season 6 will take Olivia (Kerry Washington) and the viewers to a funeral, although the preview teased it will be more of a hospital.

Olivia is unlikely to be the victim as the trailer made it seem that she went to the hospital to visit someone in danger. Who it is remains to be a mystery for now.

Meanwhile, the trailer also teases that Liv and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) will work together in "Scandal" season 6. Things have not been exactly great between the two when fans last saw them, but their team-up might have something to do with the result of the elections.

The new leaders of the United States of America will be revealed in the "Scandal" season 6 premiere. Mellie (Bellamy Young) will go at it against Cyrus (Jeff Perry) for the presidency.

The vice president post will be given to either Jake (Scott Foley) or Frankie Vargas (Ricardo Chavira). Looking at the trailer, it would seem that Liv is stressed.

She is seen being comforted by Fitz and then shouting at him the next second. Liv also has to deal with Mellie, who is "done running for president."

It looks like the elections will get the best of both Liv and Mellie in "Scandal" season 6 but everyone's favorite fixer is not looking to give up until she puts her bets to the White House.

How exactly she will pull that off, fans will have to wait until "Scandal" season 6 premieres on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
