The next generation of devices in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S line are reportedly in the works for their upcoming launch in summer.
According to Samsung-centric tech blog SamMobile, Samsung is prepping up for the two variants of the upcoming Galaxy Tab S, with model numbers SM-T710 and SM-T810. The previous models have numbers SM-T700 and SM-T800.
A slight change in the model number suggests that a minor update will be done in the new tablets. This is because the specs and features of the Galaxy Tab S tablets are already quite exquisite for the mid-range market. However, their processor is the Exynos 5420 processor released a while back, which incapable of supporting the quad HD screen display. Thus, there is a possibility that the company will update the device with a more powerful chipset under its hood.
Aside from new lower grade tablets, Samsung is reportedly working on high-end slates as well. The follow-ups to the Samsung Galaxy Tab, Tab PRO, Note, and Note PRO tablets are also said to be in production for their imminent release.
Previous rumors claim that the Galaxy Tab SM-T35x and the Galaxy Note SM-P35x will measure 7 inches, while the Galaxy Tab SM-T55x and the Galaxy Note SM-P55x will feature 10.1-inch displays. Some reports point out that new slates will sport a 4:3 aspect ratio like the iPads' screen resolution.
Rumors add that the 10.1-inch slate will come with an entry level Snapdragon 410 SoC with 64-bit architecture and the latest version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, with a price starting at $350. The smaller tablet, on the other hand, will be equipped with a quad-core "Spreadtrum SC8830" processor clocked at 1.2 GHz paired 1 GB of RAM, and will run with Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS and will cost $100.
While some Samsung fans are hoping that these purported tablets will be announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in March, some sources are telling people not to keep their hopes up as the South Korean tech giant will unveil the new devices in the second or third quarter this year.
