Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs, features: Flagship to carry ARM Mali-G71?

It turns out Samsung is serious about making the Samsung Galaxy S8 a performance heavyweight if the latest report about the much-talked-about successor of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is to be believed.

According to Sam Mobile, the smartphone will house the Exynos 8895 chipset processor and the ARM Mali-G71 tandem, both of which are the latest iteration of their respective lineups.

While the Samsung Galaxy S8 was already expected to have a new Exynos chip as its source of power, the bigger news is about the Mali-G71, the latest graphics card from ARM and the most powerful one yet.

The Mali-G71 graphics processing unit (GPU) is touted to offer top of the line 4K display resolution and smooth mobile Virtual Reality (VR) experience, all thanks to the Bifrost architecture it is built in.

The high-performance GPU which is potentially going under the hood of the Samsung Galaxy S8, as per Sam Mobile, boasts 1.8 times more power than the Mali-T880 MP12 GPU on the Samsung Galaxy S7.

ARM also claims that it will be 20 percent better in energy efficiency and that it will also boast 40 percent improved performance and 20percent more external memory bandwidth saving.

The ARM Mali-G71 GPU was even benchmarked as one that's more powerful than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor — the latest from the manufacturer, effectively painting a picture of the serious power that Samsung Galaxy S8 can harness from the chip.

It has long been rumored that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be VR-centric, with Samsung taking its first step toward the innovation with the introduction of the Bio-Blue display, which delivers a stellar Ultra high-definition screen resolution.

That being said, Samsung Galaxy S8 will definitely pack some power as it takes the VR experience to the mobile world. However, users are advised to take this report with a pinch of salt since the information presented isn't officially confirmed by the company as of the moment.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be released next year at the Mobile World Congress (MWC).
