Although South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics has just recently released another Galaxy flagship, the Note 5, speculations say the company is pushing for an earlier release of another anticipated flagship, the Galaxy S7.
According to GforGames, if Samsung will follow its traditional timeframe of releasing new flagships yearly, fans of the S series will most likely see the Galaxy S7 in April, judging by the dates on which past versions were rolled out. For instance, the Galaxy S5 and S6 were both introduced at the Mobile World Congress and released to the market in April or May in the respective years they were launched.
However, South Korean website etoday (via GforGames), indicated that Samsung may be eschewing the trend next year. According to the report, an as-yet-unnamed SK Securities analyst for SK Group, which is one of the largest conglomerates in Korea, noted that Samsung will be pushing for an earlier release of the S7, in 2016. This tallied with other observers' speculations that the Galaxy S7 will be introduced in mid-January and released to consumers the following month.
The early release might be due to a switch in development tech. According to TechTimes, Samsung has switched its manufacturing methods from a "waterfall process," which develops the phones one section at a time, to a much more convenient "agile method," where manufacturers develop parts and sections of a device simultaneously. In addition, the report also suggested that Samsung was already in the middle of the testing stages for the Galaxy S7, codenamed "Jungfrau," and the testing devices carried a Snapdragon 820 processor and ran on an unreleased Android M version.
Although observers had sources claiming the speculations to be true, the particulars remain guesses only, since Samsung had yet to confirm the rumors.
