iPhone 6 vs Samsung Galaxy S6 vs HTC One M9 specs comparison: Which flagship smartphone to buy?

On March 1, a day ahead of the Mobile World Congress, tech companies HTC and Samsung announced their new products. Samsung's Galaxy S6 and HTC's One M9 are now revealed to the public, to be made available through U.S. carriers and various retailers. The two handsets share similar specs and are expected to compete against Apple's iPhone 6. 

Below is the comparison of the three smartphones. 

Screen Display

The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch screen with Full HD resolution, the One M9 features a 5-inch Full HD screen, and the Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch quad HD display. 

Processor 

Apple's device is powered by a 64-bit A8 processor with an M8 graphics co-processor. HTC's newest offering is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 coupled with an Adreno 430 GPU. Samsung's latest handset is kicking with a 2.1 GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420 paired with a Mali-T760 GPU. 

Internal Storage 

The iPhone 6 comes with three storage options: 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. The Galaxy S6 packs either 32 GB, 64 GB, or 128 GB internal storage, ditching the microSD external storage for the first time. Meanwhile, the One M9 houses 32 GB storage with provision for up to 128 GB via its microSD slot.  

Operating System 

Apple's flagship smartphone runs with the latest iOS 8 packed with new features like Apple Pay and iHealth. Samsung's and HTC's offerings have Android 5.0 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box. 

Camera 

The iPhone 6 comes with an 8-megapixel iSight shooter with a 2-megapixel front facing camera, which is mediocre when compared to the One M9's 20-megapixel and the Galaxy S6's 16-megapixel back cameras with 1080p/4K video and dual-LED flash. 

Battery 

Apple said that the iPhone 6 boasts a battery capacity that lasts up to 14 hours. HTC equipped the One M9 with a 2840 mAh battery, while Samsung gave the Galaxy S6 a battery with a capacity of 2550 mAh with fast and wireless charging features.
