The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be getting a camera upgrade in the next few days. The much-awaited Android 5.1 Lollipop rollout will initially sweep through handsets in Canada as early as June to freshen up their shooters with cool new features.
The software will allow the 16-megapixel rear-facing snapper of the devices to capture images in RAW format. Users will also enjoy shutter speed control as well as a new simplified pro mode, which allows owners to manually fine-tune the focus, ISO, exposure, and white balance of the photos.
Android 5.1 Lollipop also lets users adjust the exposure directly from the viewfinder of the camera app. Users can do that by dragging their finger up and down the screen until they get to the amount of exposure they want before actually taking the photo. This feature is the same as that of the iPhone.
Just recently, an XDA developer leaked a video of his Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge allegedly running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, which he claims he got from T-Mobile. In the video, he said that the device became quicker and that the infamous memory leak issue was eliminated. Also, a brand new feature was unlocked. The leakster said that the update introduces a Guest mode, which allows multiple users to access select and limited personal data in the handset.
Meanwhile, also jumping to a new Lollipop build is the Samsung Galaxy A5. The fresh new handset will be slipping into Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, which introduces a TouchWiz UX-juxtaposed Material Design and an all-new convenience-centric lockscreen and notification tray.
There is also the bug fixes and improvements on battery life and the device's overall performance. The rollout, which starts in Poland, comes at the heels of the recent Samsung Galaxy A7 Android Lollipop update. The A5 update is at 1 GB and it is being released over the air.
