Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date, specs rumors: Closer look at new S Pen in latest leak

Previous leaks of the purported Samsung Galaxy Note 5 showed off the new phablet's design. But in the newest batch of images, the device's staple accessory, the S Pen, is the center of attention. Notably, there's something both old and new to see in the accessory.

GSM Arena points out that the S Pen sports a side button, which holds a whole host of functions. The previous Note entries' S Pen had the same and it has always been the edge of the Samsung Galaxy Note series over its competitors.

Noticeably, though, the top portion of this S Pen for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is clickable. This is in line with previous reports about Samsung patenting a special auto-eject feature. According to Phone Arena, the stylus has a retractable point.

The site explains that the S Pen will be fixed flat in the phone's chassis. At least, this is what's reportedly being told to case manufacturers in preparation for the device's arrival. Taking this into consideration, this clickable top likely has to do with this and it might be part of this spring-loaded system.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has been profusely leaked in the past weeks. Design-wise, it is expected to sport the design language users see on the Samsung Galaxy S6, which is lauded for its sophisticated appearance. Slash Gear claims it will be curved on the front.

Its specs sheet include a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD quality. It will reportedly have an Exynos 7420 unit for a processor and 4 GB of RAM. It is likely coming with a 32, 64, 128 GB variants. There is no word if it will feature a microSD card. It is said to have a 13-megapixel shooter on the back and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Its 3220 mAh battery will be responsible for giving it a long life span.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to see the light of day on Aug. 12, and will reportedly hit the market on Aug. 21.
