Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release, sepcs rumors: 3D rendering of phablet leaked?

Samsung is reportedly working on refreshing its phablet lineup with the Galaxy Note 5. The Note 4 successor has been rumored for quite a while. Just recently, an alleged render has emerged showing in 3D what the device would look like.

The 3D rendering was picked up by leakster @onleaks from Nowhereelse, who said that there's an 80 percent chance that the image is legitimate, although it failed to provide an insight or explanation for its claim. Nevertheless, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will look good if the image is genuine.

As pointed out by GSM Arena, the design closely resembles that of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge. It looks regular-sized. It has a flat screen but the rear is curved toward the side edges. In line with this, the phablet is expected to sport a thin dimension but won't be cumbersome.

However, making it look good forfeits the removable battery. The unit will no longer be swappable if this design ends up accurate. GSM Arena adds that the microSD slot may also be forgone, but this aspect is a bit impossible to predict with just the 3D rendering as the basis.

Notably, the previous image leaks of purported cases for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 nods to the rendering as far as layout is concerned. On the back are four significantly larger cutouts for the phablet's primary camera, rumored to be 16 megapixels, its LED flash, and the heart rate monitor. At the bottom of the case are slots for the 3.5 mm audio jack, the charging port and the S Pen stylus.

What was made clear, though, is that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, contrary to rumors, may not be using a USB Type-C port and will instead stick with a microUSB 2.0 port. As for the rest of the specs sheet, there's the said Samsung Exynos octa-core processor under the hood, 4 GB RAM, and a 4100 mAh battery unit. It is also said to come with a 5.9-inch Super AMOLED 4K display and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to show up during the IFA Berlin in September.
