Samsung's Galaxy J lineup is expanding, with two new additions waiting to be unveiled. Just recently, the Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 were spotted at Chinese certification authority TENAA, making the midrangers from the South Korea-based tech titan official.
There were also images accompanying the official recognition of the pair of smartphones, letting Samsung fans have a look at the hottest handsets in the Galaxy J array. The specs were also detailed, revealing the almost identical packaging of the smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy J5 is expected to show up with a 5-inch HD display, which renders a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The Chinese certification unit also listed the device to sport a 1.2 GHz octa-core processor, which opposes a benchmark result claiming it has a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor.
Samsung is said to incorporate 1.5 GB of RAM on the device along with 16 GB of storage, expandable to up to 64 GB via a microSD card slot. The rumor mill is divided when it comes to the camera department. Some say it's at 8 megapixels, while others say it's at 13 megapixels. On the front is a 5-megapixel shooter and on the power side is a 2600 mAh battery.
According to TENAA, the Samsung Galaxy J5 is thicker (8.99 mm) yet lighter (149 g) than its kin, the Samsung Galaxy J7, which measures 7.9 mm thick and weighs 170 g.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 has the same screen resolution as the J5 even with its bigger 5.5-inch display. It is said to make use of a 64-bit Marvel PXA1936 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. It offers the same memory and storage as its sibling but instead of 2600 mAh, it will pack a 3000 mAh battery.
The devices' back cover is removable, and there are 4G LTE variants. The J5 and the J7 also come in dual SIM flavors. Android 5.0 Lollipop is promised as well but with TouchWiz UI on top.
The release date, though, is still a mystery but with certification already complete, it won't be long before Samsung brings them out into the field.
