Sacramento Kings NBA 2015 news: Ty Lawson back together with George Karl?

News about Ty Lawson being up for trade could materialize soon if the Sacramento Kings are bent on acquiring the NBA veteran from the Denver Nuggets.

Rumors has it that Kings coach George Karl wants his former player in his fold which could be a reunion of sorts. In exchange for Lawson, the Nuggets would be getting the sixth pick overall.

Would this trade be wise?

For the Nuggets, it serves as a golden opportunity to rid themselves of Lawson's hefty contract and rebuild with a younger core. Lawson is owed $12,404,495 in 2015-16 and $13,213,482 in 2016-17, big savings if the NBA approves the alleged deal.

Lawson has indeed proven his worth though his performance has experience a dip. Could a reunion with his former coach (Karl) set him back on the right track?

With the sixth pick, the Kings are unlikely to get a quality guard in the draft if that is what they are planning to do. Like most teams ahead of them, the Kings could be targeting D'Angelo Russell and or Emmanuel Mudiay, the two best guards that they can probably get their hands on.

But seeing that other teams before them may likely pick them up, Lawson could prove to be a better choice for the Kings and Karl though they will be paying big bucks in the process for the next two years.

The Nuggets have made it known before that they are rebuilding and Lawson and Kenneth Faried are likely to be traded. And since that rumor came out, only the Kings have shown interest in Lawson because of the player's relationship with Karl.

Lawson has been linked to certain off court issues including a DUI arrest and being curiously absent during the NBA All -Star break. A reunion with his former mentor could possibly help him rebound but the NBA has to give its blessing first.
