Rosie Perez has been a no-show in "The View" for a while now, but there's good reason for that. The actress actually had to take the entire January off due to a play ("Fish in the Dark") she is part of. However, rumors are rife that the actress won't be going back and was actually fired.
Variety released a bomb of a report when it said that Perez was actually exiting the show. While "The View" has already released an official statement as to Perez's whereabouts, saying, "Rosie Perez is currently in rehearsal for her Broadway play. Her status with the show has not changed," this didn't stop the rumors that Perez has actually been fired.
According to New York Daily News, Perez has been struggling both on and off air. For one, she reportedly had a heated argument with Rosie O'Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg back in November and it really got to her emotionally. Then, there's the problem of not being able to read through the teleprompter properly.
Many pointed out that Perez was an unusual choice as a host for the show. In fact, she was just a late addition, which led people to believe that she really wasn't the right fit.
Elsewhere, co-host Rosie O'Donnell spoke her brutally honest mind after hearing the news that Perez was fired. All of the hosts were shocked, but O'Donnell couldn't keep the surprise to herself. On air, she denied everything that Variety said in its report.
"No matter what you read anywhere, Rosie Perez is also coming back after she is done rehearsing her play ... regardless of what you hear in other shows or read in magazines as I did last night at 11:40. What the ----!" O'Donnell said.
Daily Mail reported the same thing, that Perez is really gone from the show.
A source said, "'Everyone is in a panic here and something had to be done. The executive producer had to make a serious change to breath new life into the show."
Is O'Donnell unaware or is she just faking her reaction?
Anyway, "The View" has been struggling with the ratings as well as the alleged fights between the hosts. There's been rumors that the show can get cancelled or that there will be a huge change needed to be done by ABC. And this means changing the producers, hosts and writers and everyone included.
