It will not be long before "Rick and Morty" season 3 returns to the small screen, but fans will not have to worry about killing time as everyone's favorite intergalactic duo will participate in some Halloween festivities.

Rick and Morty will be featured in a series of Halloween shorts in clay form. Claymation artist Lee Hardcastle was tapped to recreate iconic scenes from cult favorite horror and science fiction films with the duo.

The Claymation series is titled "Rick and Morty: The Non-Canonical Adventures." The movies reimagined with Rick and Morty in it include "Ex Machina," "Honey I Shrunk the Kids," "The Fly," and "The Thing."

Inverse says that Rick and Morty's dealings in these Halloween shorts are much more horrifying than what they face in the actual animated series.

As for the December premiere of "Rick and Morty" season 3, show creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon have always targeted a 2016 launch date for the show's return instead of making fans wait up to next year.

It looks like they are keeping their word despite the fact that the new season actually has more episodes than the previous ones. "Rick and Morty" season 3 has 14 while the second season had 11, and the first season, 10.

"Rick and Morty" season 3 was confirmed to premiere this year by new writers Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener during an episode of the "Chicks Who Script" podcast.

As revealed before, new writers, the majority, if not all of them, are female, were brought in for "Rick and Morty" season 3 that takes the case of gender balance that the show co-creator Dan Harmon said the series was lacking.

The bigger writing team for "Rick and Morty" season 3 may have likely helped in getting the work done this season much quickly.

If this is anything to go by, fans might not have to wait for a long period of time for new seasons of "Rick and Morty" now that there are additional writers working to put together the show.
