Although "Rick and Morty" season 3 will have more episodes than the previous seasons, creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon are hoping to complete the season's production early enough for a premiere this year.

According to reports, the show is on track for a December launch, although the duo has not specified an official timeframe for the premiere other than a year-end promise.

Work on "Rick and Morty" season 3 has been going on for a while now. The addition of a bulk of new writers should help the team in churning out the season by December.

Harmon has revealed to Den of Geek a few months back that new writers, a majority of them being female, have been added to work on "Rick and Morty."

He said that the addition of more women on the team satisfied their "craving for a gender balance in the writers' room that we had never had."

This should also make for a speedy production as more talented individuals are now working on "Rick ad Morty" season 3.

The second season, which has 11 episodes, took a year and a couple of months after the conclusion of the first season to air. The second season ended in October last year.

If the team keep up the same pace, taking into account the increase in the number of episodes and the writers working on it, a December premiere for "Rick and Morty" season 3 is definitely achievable.

As fans wait for new adventures of the Rick and Morty, the wait for Book One of the "Rick and Morty" comics is also ongoing. The hardcover collection by Zac Gorman and Ryan Hill drops on Dec. 6.

Just recently, a limited edition Oni Press exclusive variant of "Rick and Morty: Lil' Poopy Superstar," illustrated by Sara Richard, was made available in a small quantity, which should help fans survive the wait leading up to the purported "Rick and Morty" season 3 premiere this December.
