Rex Ryan fired rumors: New York Jets expected to axe Rex Ryan

As the New York Jets get ready to wrap up their season, rumors are flying that head coach Rex Ryan could be on his way out. With a measly 3-12 record as of this writing, many believe that the Jets will most likely fire Ryan as well as general manager John Idzik.

However, there are still some who believe that Ryan should  stay on with the ballclub. If not as a head coach, many believe that Ryan could be suited to take over as general manager should the Jets move ahead in firing Idzik.

Ryan has had his share of success for the Jets, including back-to-back AFC championship appearances in 2009 and 2010.

Despite these rumors, Ryan is optimistic. In fact he believes that he is that good to eventually win the Super Bowl someday.

"I see myself winning it as a head coach," Ryan said Tuesday after Jets practice, according to the New York Post. "I definitely see it. If that happens, I guess we'll find out."

Ryan did not hide this season was not really something worth remembering although he did indirectly imply that he had limited "gifts" and resources to work on.

"I was given some gifts and obviously a lot less in other areas, but I can coach football," Ryan said. "And I know that. … I think that's what gives me the belief that one day I'm gonna win that thing.

Ryan could be coaching the Jets for the last time against Miami if reports hold true that he is on his way out. However, the 52-year-old head coach from Ardmore, Oklahoma has vowed to make the most out of their coming match.

Winning a measly three games for the year does seem like a mediocre performance, especially for a coach who has proven that he has what it takes to win in the NFL. But with the changing times and limited resources he has had to deal with, the odds seem to have become too much to overcome.

All these rumors could be finally put to rest by Monday after the Jets game. Could Ryan be out of a job or be elevated to the general manager position? A lot of development are expected to ensure but for coach Ryan, he still believes he is a winner!
