Readings from Selwyn Hughes for your walk of faith

It is a testimony to the life and teachings of the late Selwyn Hughes that his books continue to build up faith around the world.

If you’ve found some of his works, like Every Day With Jesus, to be a help to you in your Christian life there are now two new books from CWR to add to your collection – A Year With Selwyn Hughes and A Walk Of Faith.

With its distinctive black cover, A Walk of Faith is a book of 365 readings that is likely to appeal to men in a way not shared by some of the more feminine-looking devotional books on the market.

But a quick flick through tells you that the carefully selected verses and reflections – taken from Every Day With Jesus – will appeal to women as much as men.

As the title suggests, this is a devotional that is all about application – real biblical wisdom that applies to your life today and can genuinely change the way you live it.

Each day includes a short Every Day with Jesus extract, a Bible verse to challenge or encourage, and a thoughtfully-crafted prayer, all laid out in an easy-to-use format.

Publishers CWR say they hope readers will learn how to make firm friendships that impact the world, understand the power of praise, discover the greatest purpose in life, and draw closer to the God who is both “tough and tender”.

For a slightly different selection of readings, CWR’s A Year With Selwyn Hughes has drawn from some of his finest passages across various works, including Every Day With Jesus, 7 Laws of Spiritual Success, Christ Empowered Living, Spoken from the Heart, Heaven Bound and Why Revival Waits.

Every page offers another insight into faithful living from Hughes, such as the meditation for October 18, ‘Self-deceit’:

“Lying of any kind is to be strongly condemned and must inevitably result in spiritual loss (see Jer. 9:5). But if I had to decide which kind of lying is worst, I would say that it is lying to oneself … The truth is that we can and do lie to ourselves, and I suspect we all know something of the danger from personal experience. I can think of nothing more injurious to the spiritual life than having a conscience that does not operate in the way it was designed.”

Whether you have read all of his books or are only just encountering the works of Selwyn Hughes for the first time, these beautiful devotionals will undoubtedly give you a greater sense of God’s working in all areas of your life, spiritual and physical.

They would also make ideal gifts for friends, family and newcomers to the faith.

Both books are out from CWR, A Walk of Faith priced £8.99 and A Year with Selwyn Hughes priced £12.99.
