"Rainbow Six Siege" will introduce a new event called "Outbreak" during Season 1 of Year 3. Ubisoft

Video game publisher Ubisoft has announced the details of the upcoming third year of the popular first person shooter "Rainbow Six Siege." Due in 2018, the Year 3 downloadable content (DLC) will be adding a new event, "Outbreak," two new maps, and eight new operators to the game.

Like the first two years of the game, Year 3 will include four seasons, with each adding two operators. The first season will be called "Operation Chimera, and will add two characters from France and Russia, both of which are going to be biohazard specialists.

The first season will also be introducing a new event called Outbreak, which will only be available for a limited time. The event will take place over four weeks during the first season and will be free-to-play for "Rainbow Six Siege" owners.

The names of the other three seasons have yet to be revealed, but Ubisoft has provided a few details. The second season will introduce a couple of Italian GIS operators and a new map located somewhere in Italy.

In Season 3, "Rainbow Six Siege" players will get a character from U.K.'s Scotland Yard and an operator from the U.S. Delta Force. The fourth season will introduce a map set in Morocco along with two operators from the region.

The season pass for year 3 can be purchased by "Rainbow Six Siege" players until Dec. 12.

The game is also set to release the final season of Year 2, "Operation White Noise." This season, which is themed around South Korea adds a Korean set map and three new operators. The latest DLC, "Operation Blood Orchid," was released in September and included a map set in Hong Kong along with three operators.

The game traditionally adds just two operators per season, but the final two seasons of this year includes three each to compensate for the cancelled Polish DLC that was supposed to be released earlier in the year.
