AMD recently announced that their most powerful GPU, the Radeon Pro Duo, will be available before the end of the month and will cost US$1,500. The company unveiled the dual-Fiji flagship last month to the delight of the gaming community.
WCCFTech reported that the Radeon Duo Pro will be available to take care of business by April 26. AMD's fastest GPU contains their top-of-the-line 28nm Fiji graphics processors that provide 16 TERAFLOPS, 8,196 stream processors, 512 texture mapping units and 128 raster units. It also contains 8GB HBM. Aside from the gaming community, the company is also targeting VR content creators with its own VR content platform that comes with the powerful GPU – the LiquidVR.
The company is now focusing on the VR market with the onset of VR technology being available to the general public. The Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive are currently the two VR headgears available on the market that require a powerful PC to operate. These VR gadgets are running a 2K resolution at 90 fps, and owners should equip their computers with at least the Radeon R9 290 or NVIDIA's GTX 970.
In an interview also conducted by WCCTech, Guennadi Riguer of AMD said, "LiquidVR is a set of technologies that has a very clear mission: to take maximum advantage of GPUs to enable rich and seamless content."
Riguer then added, "As VR technology evolves, so will LiquidVR – we have a robust road map that will tackle a wide range of issues the industry already talks up as the next set of challenges we'll be facing. We believe that with LiquidVR, AMD has helped the industry to take a first big step in this wonderful new immersive world called virtual reality."
AMD has already stated earlier that the Radeon Pro Duo will have a closed loop liquid cooling and will come with a 120 mm radiator by CoolMaster, which will handle the heat generated by the massive GPU. Techfrag then added that It will be requiring three 8-pin power connectors to run and will be consuming around 350W.
AMD kept quiet during the recently concluded GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2016, where its rival company, NVIDIA, launched its latest Pascal architecture.
