The sequel to the classic platform video game, "Psychonauts," by Double Fine Productions, is currently in development. After more than a full decade without a sequel, fans are excited about it. Fortunately, the developers have released some footage to show-off some short clips of "Psychonauts 2," along with the announcement of a "first player" implementation that will be arriving soon.

In a report by PC Games N, Double Fine Productions were able to come up with a "first playable" for the game. This means that, essentially, players will be able to experience a very brief portion of the game, after which the developers will be hoping to gain some very valuable feedback regarding their experience in order to further improve the game. In fact, the developers had described the "first playable" to resemble a pre-alpha version state of the game.

The specific portion of the game will be in its very early draft stage, so players will not exactly be playing through a beta or even alpha test. It can be surmised that the specific part of the game that players will be able to play through will most likely go through numerous changes upon its release. In a report by U.S. Gamers, the gameplay footage looked very promising. Players can still expect to control the previous protagonist Raz through his new adventures.

The featured video not only described the nature of the upcoming "first playable" and showed off the graphics and gameplay of "Psychonauts 2," but it also gave viewers a sneak peek of the music and the combat. So far, it appears that the developers have been faithful to the previous iteration of the game, and it should be expected that fans are nothing short of excited.

The project was made possible by way of a crowd funding program called Fig, as reported by PC Gamer. Additionally, they have also reported that the game is not nearing completion as of now but the developers had initially promised a summer of 2018 release date. Fans will have to wait for more news regarding the game's development to have a better estimation of when it will be made available.
