Sony is set to give out some discount codes as a form of apology for the PSN downtime gamers had experienced last Christmas. And while the offer seems like a generous one to hand out, there are limitations.

Well for one, they cannot be used on pre orders. It cannot be used as well for Music Unlimited or video rentals. So since that offer (10% discount) is valid for just four days, you may want to check out where you can use them to save you time and trouble.

The discounts will be valid from January 23 to 26 where it will start and end at 9:00 a.m. GMT in Europe. For members under the Active Playstation Plus, an additional five days will be extended to their membership. So if you are one of the members of Active Playstation Plus, check your email and see if you got that note concerning the extension.

To recall, the PSN outages occurred last Christmas due to a reported DDoS attack. This made the whole network inaccessible. The culprits were the Lizard Squad who ironically got a taste of downtime as well after their site was compromised as well.

The 10% PSN discount codes have already been issued. Bear in mind that these are one-time discount codes. The codes per region are as follows, courtesy of Digital Spy:
