The pregnant Florida woman who was shot in the stomach on April 23 over a Facebook argument has lost her baby.

Markeisha Brooks, 23, is in critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen at the hands of a former friend, 35-year old Virginia Wyche.

According to Jacksonville police, the women were arguing on Facebook on the evening of April 22, and Brooks went to Wyche's home on the 9100 block of Castle Boulevard the next day. It is unknown whether Brooks was invited to the home.

According to a neighbor, Christopher Cash, the women were fighting before Wyche fired the shot.

"They were arguing out front, something about Facebook. I walked out and just heard a pop," Cash told a local CBS affiliate.

Cash recorded a video of Brooks hunched over in a lawn chair, while someone holds a towel to her stomach. Another woman rubs her back. Cash also captured Wyche in handcuffs, being assisted into a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office marked car. She has been charged with murder and attempted murder, and is being held on $1 million bond.

The shooter's mother, Lillian Jordan, was upset by her daughter's crime, but said that Wyche must have felt attacked.

"My son called me and I was very disturbed about this because this is not the way I was raised, and they [were] not raised like this," Jordan told News 4 Jax.

"Somebody had to provoke my child ... to do what she [did]. I don't know if she was trying to defend herself, or if they [were] trying to jump on my child, I can't say."

Another neighbor, Jim Fields, said he is staying prayerful, and advised people to stay away from negative situations.

"I pray that God continues to bless the families and everyone can learn to get along," Fields told News 4.

"Sometimes it's best to just walk away from the problem than to try and solve it yourself. Looks like the enemy had his way today but I'm continuing to pray for the neighborhood and the family in their time of need."
