'Plucked from the Fire': Sole 9/11 survivor from WTC impact zone says 'the Lord saw fit for me to live'

He saw the huge plane flying straight at him "at eye-level contact" on the 81st floor of the World Trade Center's Tower 2 in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001.

"I'm standing up looking at this plane getting bigger and nearer," says Stanley Praimnath, an official of a bank and the only known survivor from the impact zone of WTC towers.

Fear gripped his body as he cried out to God: "Lord, I can't do this—you take over," as he dove under his desk, according to God Reports.

He saw the plane slammed into the building, its wing slicing through his office and getting stuck in his office door.

Then in an instant, all hell broke loose. "There was a massive fireball as the major part of the plane blew up," says Praimnath, who described his horrific experience in grim detail in the book "Plucked from the Fire" (Rosedog Books), coauthored with William Hennessey.

"The only desk that stood firm was the one I was hiding under because my Bible was on top of that desk," he says.

He says all the office workers in the floor where he was holding office that day were killed by the huge explosion—except him. "The Lord saw fit for me to live," he says.

The plane flattened every wall of his office, his desk and every other piece of office furniture smashed like match boxes. Part of the floor above him collapsed, with the debris falling down on him.

He got out of the debris that nearly buried him completely. But there was no way out of his office, because the plane's wing blocked the only exit door.

Praimnath says he prayed to God, "Lord, send somebody to help me...I don't want to die. What will happen to my wife and two kids?"

It didn't take long for God to send somebody to save him. Brian Clark, a company executive, heard his cry for help as he was coming down from the 84th floor and came to rescue him.

After struggling to get out of the burning building, Praimnath and Clark ran, with broken glass falling from the sky like confetti. "Not one piece touched us," Praimnath recalls.

Then Tower 2 started to implode, one floor smashing on top of another. The two men were enveloped in a huge cloud of smoke, ash, dust and debris.

For weeks Praimnath kept asking God, "Why did I live and why did so many good people die?"

Then he heard a commentator talking about the significance of the numbers 9-1-1. Praimnath immediately found the inspiration to turn to Psalm 91:1 in the Bible, which says: "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."

He then realised that he was alive because he called out to God to save him. "If you call on Him with all your heart and soul He will intervene on your behalf and deliver you," he says.
