Origin PC Chronos news: Gaming desktop has HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in mind

Origin PC Chronos - Small Form Factor Origin PC

For those wanting to have the latest virtual reality headgear available in the market, particularly the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, then the Chronos high-performance desktop is the perfect partner for either of the two.

First spotted during the Consumer Electronics Show 2016, the Origin PC Chronos is designed specifically for VR developers and VR aficionados. The minimum requirements for the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive VR gear are Intel i5, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290, 4GB RAM, HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, a USB port, and Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 operating system. These are easily met by the Chronos.

The new PC comes in a small form factor or SFF, and is a space-saving PC desktop system. It uses the latest mini-ITX motherboard and the steel case is merely 11.75 inches high, 4 inches wide and 13.75 inches deep. Overall, the Chronos desktop has a total volume of 4 liters. It is small compared to the typical desktop gaming system, but it can give a lot of punch, and may be even better than some full-sized desktops.

Beneath the small package, the Chronos premium gaming desktop can be equipped with the latest Intel 7th generation processors, accommodate up to 32GB DDR4 memory, up to four solid-state drives plus one hard drive, and still have space for the massively huge NVIDIA Titan or AMD Radeon GPU, which can easily accommodate displays with 4K resolutions.

The power requirement for the components is provided for by a 650 W supply, while heat generated from the system is handled by a Frostbyte 12 sealed liquid-cooling system plus several fans. The operating system is Microsoft's Windows 10 Home or Pro version.  Future owners can also choose a color scheme or paint job for the steel case. There are four pre-defined designs to choose from: True Fire, Green Shredder, Neurons and Arctic White. Plain colors are also available, from Eternal Pink to Horizon Yellow. One can also have it custom painted.

The price of the Origin PC Chronos starts at $1.440, but this can easily get bloated with all the upgrades and add-ons available. Delivery time may take roughly two weeks.
