Orange is the New Black season 2 premiere: Laura Prepon has not been on set since filming began, says source

Reports that Laura Prepon will be departing the popular prison drama "Orange is the New Black" have been denied by Netflix. The on-demand Internet streaming service provider said the reports of Prepon's departure are not accurate and that season 2 is "still developing and nothing is confirmed."

The rumors of Prepon's character Alex Vause was first sparked by a report on Buzzfeed, which cited a source close to the show, saying that she will not be a regular on the show. This suggested that Prepon may be on her way out, and only return for season 2 to finish her character's storyline.

However, despite Netflix's comment on Prepon's exit, a source close to the show also confirmed to TVGuide.com that the storyline of Prepon's character will come to a close. The insider told TVGuide.com that the actress has not been on set since filming began weeks ago and that the season 2 premiere will be filmed later this year, where they will "[wrap] up Laura's stuff and [resolve] the cliff-hanger".

Prepon has not commented on the rumors of her departure yet .

The first season of OITNB revolves around the story of Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), who is sent to prison for helping to transport drug money nearly a decade ago for her then-lover drug Alex Vause. The show comically explores the issues she faces in prison life.

The comedy-drama premiered with 13 episodes on July 11 and has been generating buzz since its debut. The production of season 2 is currently underway, with many actresses confirmed to return such as Taryn Manning and Uzo Aduba.
