OnePlus Two release date Q2 or Q3; coming with Oxygen OS and not Android 5.0?

A successor to the OnePlus One, the OnePlus Two, is expected to come out somewhere between the second and third quarter of 2015 which will be initially offered in India.

The OnePlus Two comes a year after the release of the OnePlus One. Once this officially happens, OnePlus Enterprise co-founder Carl Pei reveals that the previous OnePlus One model will still be available but at a discounted price.

For now, the specs of the OnePlus Two remain unofficial. Per rumors, consumers who are planning to get a hold of the OnePlus Two can expect the following features:

  • 5.5-inch 2K resolution
  • Snapdragon 810 processor
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 3,300 mAh battery

Initially, it was rumored that the OnePlus Two would be running on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. However, it seems a new rumor has contradicted this claim.

New rumors suggest that instead of the Android 5.0 Lollipop, the OnePlus Two will instead run on a new OS called Oxygen. The said OS is something that originates from OnePlus themselves.

Apparently, the company believes that they would be better off using their own OS to provide better localization and faster updates.

Apparently the move should be a good one considering the problems that Android has had when it comes to addressing various mobile phone issues for most patches that they occasionally release. With the move, OnePlus can work closely with their users and make the necessary improvements faster.

The Oxygen OS was originally set to be released last February 12 but encountered some delays. Word has it that it could finally debut in March. If so, it should be practically imminent to see the said OS used for the upcoming OnePlus Two somewhere between the second and third quarter.

Aside from India, there is no word on whether the OnePlus Two would be offered in other markets such as North America or Europe.
