OnePlus 2 release date: specs to be unveiled July 27

The OnePlus Cardboard fans will use to watch the launching event OnePlus

OnePlus is very dedicated in building a hype around its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 2. The tech firm based in China has been dropping juicy morsels of details over the past few days, lifting the veil off the device as slowly as possible, and there surely won't be any shortage of those teasers within the next month.

The OnePlus 2 won't be seen in one piece until July 27 and this is no ordinary unveiling. OnePlus will conduct "the world's first product launch in VR," and will provide a free OnePlus Cardboard headset for participants to wear to watch the event.

OnePlus founder Carl Pei stated in a blog post that the company is a fan of doing things "differently" so as to send a message that OnePlus is unlike any other. This is why OnePlus 2 will be unveiled via a virtual reality presentation.

"We're excited for the future. As a tech startup, our goal is to push the envelope, look for new opportunities, and strive to perfect them," Pei said. "Virtual reality holds a monumental amount of potential. With cutting-edge technology, we can explore corners of the world like never before. We already know that VR will change the face of the entertainment industry, but we're here to try something new."

The company admitted in their most recent post that their marketing is "divisive" and that they intend to be as noisy as they can simply because that is how they introduce their new offerings to the tech world. OnePlus acknowledges that they are "loud," and this is for a good reason.

"We like to interact with our fans frequently. We announce news directly to you; on our forums, blog, and social media channels. A strong dialogue with you guys is at the core of what we do," OnePlus asserted.

In the momentous virtual reality event, Pei said that participants will "be able to look around as you check out the phone in a new way and maybe even find a few hidden Easter eggs. It's a new way of thinking about a product launch. We aren't talking at you; we are talking with you."

As of now, the new OnePlus handset is said to sport a new "cool" version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and a Type USB-C reversible port. Those who are interested in seeing the OnePlus 2 in all is VR glory can learn about the details on how to score the Cardboard headset here.
