ABC has been teasing the arrival of Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz) and Jasmine (Karen David) for weeks, and time has finally come for "Once Upon a Time" season 6 episode 5 to unravel their story.
The episode is aptly titled "Street Rats." It will show Jasmine on a quest to save her city of Agrabah and the Sultan from the evil Jafar (Oded Fehr), leading her to seek the help of Aladdin.
Their mission will entail braving the Cave of Wonders, which is, as per the synopsis of "Once Upon a Time" season 6 episode 5, "where Aladdin's fate is revealed."
The promo for the episode shows that Jasmine ends up being captured and Aladdin swoops in aboard the Magic Carpet just in time to save her.
It remains to be seen what happens during the standoff, but "Once Upon a Time" season 6 episode 5 should fill fans in on that as well as what has become of Aladdin.
The promo teases that Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and the heroes will find him in some kind of an abandoned building, which would mean that Jafar was wrong when he said that "death is the fate of all Saviors."
That does not necessarily mean he is in great shape either. He has been hiding for a reason, but episode 5 should reveal what he is up to now.
As teased before, Aladdin's arrival in "Once Upon a Time" season 6 will shed light on the Savior mythology as he himself was a Savior. This might also lead to finding a way to defeat the Evil Queen (Lana Parilla) without Regina (Parilla) having to die.
"There is a direct connection between what Aladdin went through in our version of the tale, and what Emma goes through in her story," show creator Adam Horowitz told TV Guide.
"We've seen in the past that Emma's Jafar was always the Evil Queen. Now that she's out there somewhere, I would be worried about that," co-creator Edward Kitsis added.
Speaking of the Evil Queen, "Once Upon a Time" season 6 episode 5 will see the sinister royalty break Emma's family apart by forcing her to reveal a secret that will be devastating to Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) and her parents, Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming (Josh Dallas).
"Once Upon a Time" season 6 episode 5, "Street Rats," is scheduled to air on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
