OKC Thunder NBA rumors: Should the team add Anthony Bennett?

The OKC Thunder have been quiet at the player movement front but make no mistake about it, the team is in need of players.

Though it is not exactly known if the Thunder are working on a limited budget, the team may want to look into acquiring Anthony Bennett from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Bennett hasn't exactly lived to the hype of being a former top pick in the NBA. But at only 22, there is still time for him to whip himself back into shape.

The 6-foot-8 native of Toronto could spell resident star Kevin Durant at times, being fast and someone who can play the wings. On whether he is worthy to do so would depend on how willing the Thunder would be as far as investing time and getting him into proper playing shape.

With the Cavs, he showed some improvement in offseason games before being eventually traded together with last year's top pick, Andrew Wiggins, in exchange for Kevin Love.

Unfortunately, he wasn't significant for the Timberwolves last season so the announcement of the T-Wolves of Bennett being on the trading block wasn't really much of a surprise. With the arrival of Karl Anthony-Towns, Bennett may just find himself spending a lot of time on the bench.

Aside from his age, the Thunder could take into consideration as well that Bennett could be a reasonable find. It is unlikely that Bennett would be getting a high salary and until he proves his true worth, that is likely to stay for as long as any team would be willing to take him in.

For the Thunder, landing Bennett could be a precautionary measure since Durant needs some in-between rest during games. Practically out for majority of the 2014-15 NBA season, the Thunder may want to look at investing on some low-cost backups. Right now, Bennett could be an option.
