When word came out that Sean Murray, director of "No Man's Sky," would be making an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," many assumed it was so he could announce an official release date for the game.

As it turns out, that wasn't the case, Polygon reported.

The show's host even asked Murray directly about the game's release date, which led to the game's director coyly indicating that the information is still top secret.

Instead of making an official release date announcement, as many had hoped and expected, Murray proceeded to show off the type of gameplay that could be experienced in "No Man's Sky."

Murray was the one who handled the demonstration of the game itself instead of handing over the reins to Colbert, and he honed in one of the many star systems inside the game.

Murray showcased the different types of planets and environments that players could see inside "No Man's Sky," and he even showed off one of the more anticipated aspects of the upcoming sci-fi title.

This feature, of course, is the ability for players to name things, animals, and even planets after themselves for as long as they are the first one to stumble upon them inside "No Man's Sky."

During the interview, Murray proceeded to name some of the creatures inside the game after Colbert, coming up with the "Colbertasauras" and the "Molebert," according to Gamespot. Murray took things a step further by naming an entire star system after the comedian/host.

After naming a few elements of the game after Colbert, the segment concluded with Murray providing the talk show host with a better perspective on the scale of "No Man's Sky" by proceeding to zoom out and into space to show off just how many star systems and planets could be seen.
