Apparently, Nina Dobrev's mystery boyfriend and one of Ian Somerhalder's pals is the same person. It was recently revealed that Mark Foster, the lead vocalist of pop band Foster the People, is the new love of "The Vampire Diaries" heroine.

Sure enough, the hearts of the fans of the Damon and Elena love team were crushed, for the second time. The chemistry of the on-screen couple has extended beyond the cameras, but their romance was cut short last year. One could imagine the awkwardness within the set of their hit series, "The Vampire Diaries", where the two play the roles of the pin-up characters that are crazy in love with each other.

According to IB Times, the two have not been on good terms since their breakup. Reconciliation between the two was made even more far-fetched when Somerhalder started going out with Nikki Reed, who happened to be best buds with his ex-girlfriend.

The romance between Somerhalder and Reed was made all too public, unlike Dobrev's hush-hush relationship with Foster. Celebrity Dirty Laundry reported that Dobrev kept the relationship under wraps as she knew how her fans yearn to see her and Somerhalder back in each other's arms. Bad news for them though, as the lead actress is reportedly "getting pretty serious" with her co-star's friend. The pair reportedly thought of keeping it private but their reason was not particularly mentioned. But eventually, the new couple has learned to be okay with their romance out in the open, as IB Times reported.

In turn, rumors now suggest that Somerhalder or Dobrev is on the verge of leaving the show because of the issues. But these speculations remain as they are. Interestingly, the story of "The Vampire Diaries" is now at the point where Somerhalder's character, Damon, finally accepts the fact that Dobrev's Elena will be happy without him.
