New Orleans Pelicans NBA 2015 news: Steven Nash a wise coach option?

A quick glance at most of the new head coaches in the NBA right now would reveal some guards who made a splash in the NBA during their prime.

Among the guards who turned NBA coaches include the active ones such as Jason Kidd (Milwaukee Bucks), Byron Scott (Los Angeles Lakers) Glen Doc Rivers (Los Angeles Clippers) and Rick Carlisle (Dallas Mavericks).

Other guards who made their transition to coaching but are currently vacant are Mark Jackson, Brian Shaw, Scott Skiles and Monty Williams. During their time, there were the actual coaches on the court.

With that in mind, why should Steve Nash be coaching?

Nash, who recently retired from active duty, is expected to be among the assistant coaches who could be lined up over at the Los Angeles Lakers. And on that thought, could Nash make a big jump to head coaching duties should teams ask him?

Nash has the smarts and knows the game. He could make the transition if an offer arises and one team that comes to mind are the New Orleans Pelicans. Imagine how the team could improve from his knowledge. It could even ease the burden on big man Anthony Davis as well since Nash has been known to make other players look good on the hardwood.

Apparently, Nash is no stranger to mentoring young turks, something he has done with players such as Jordan Clarkson of the Los Angeles Lakers. So why not make the big jump and take an entire team under his wing?

To his credit, Nash is a two-time NBA MVP and has of course been known to get the whole team involved. He has the on-court smarts that could help any team and its players rise to contention.

Though he may still need some experience on the matter, it is evident that Nash could someday be among the head coaches who have worked their way up and proven their basketball knowledge.

At the moment, there is nothing linking Nash to coaching but if there are teams out there who have followed Nash's career, it is a no-brainer that the guy can coach and make a difference. He did it while he was playing so calling the shots for a team should not be any different.
