New Nigerian Anglican Deacons Told to Preach the 'Undiluted Gospel'

Nigerian Archbishop, the Most Rev Maxwell Anikwenwa, has ordained nine new deacons into the Anglican Communion and exhorted them to become great ambassadors of the Church by testifying the message of the "undiluted Gospel" to all people.

Archbishop Anikwenwa told the deacons that they were called to serve the church of God, and that they should work with its members to care for the poor sick and troubled, reports the All Africa news agency.

Giving renewed strength to the faithful congregants was also commissioned to the newly ordained men. They were told that men of God are servants of their congregation and not masters and so they should be selfless at all times for the propagation of the Gospel to be genuine.

An evangelistic message was preached to the new deacons explaining that their primary assignment was to evangelise the communities and suburbs that could not normally be reached by older priests.

Humbleness, Archbishop Anikwenwa stated, was one of the attributes that the nine should ensure they always hold onto if they are to become good servants of God.
