When you think about car racing games, GTA or even Gran Turismo would immediately come into mind. Well don't be surprised if you find something different soon, one themed after NASCAR.

After securing the licenses from erstwhile holder Eutechnyx, DMi Games wasted no time and buckled down to work as they try to come up with a new kind of car racing game for Xbox One, PS4 and the PC versions.

The acquisition of the licenses was not an easy one as narrated by DMi Games president Ed Martin. Apparently there were some complications in the securing of licenses.

As an example, Martin mentioned that one contemporary NASCAR video carries more than a thousand licenses and approved properties.

"That's a lot of stakeholders and people to get organized!" says Martin.

Martin has been known to work on NASCAR games since the 1990s and the formal announcement of the acquisition was made through an open letter. The letter can be viewed here.

Apparently the earliest time gamers can expect the game would be in 2016. Martin bared that they are busy working on a couple of games, topped by the all-new NASCAR racing sim which will be available for the PS4, Xbox One and the PC.

For the meantime, Martin did mention that they will be releasing a couple of NASCAR games like the NASCAR Manager and a season update to NASCAR '14. He however stressed that these games will not be a DMi game and emphasized that the first official DMi NASCAR game will come in 2016.
