'Mass Effect 4': new leak reveals details

Mass Effect 4 teaser Bioware

Game company Bioware has kept details about "Mass Effect 4" to a minimum, only acquainting fans with a few details, ranging from a new milestone the game studio has crossed to what stage the devs have reached in terms of production. However, it does not really give information about what the intergalactic title is all about.

But behold, a whole host of details about the plot of the Captain Sheperd-less "Mass Effect 4" has emerged, courtesy of a Reddit user who allegedly participated in a survey about the much-awaited science fiction action role-playing video game.

According to the leakster, players will be endowed a weighty mission, which is finding humanity a new home. The missions will be set in a region in the Andromeda Galaxy called the Helius Cluster, which is composed of multiple solar systems huddled together.

The upcoming game reportedly turns players into a "Pathfinder," a combat expert who is about to channel his inner explorer by tearing through the enormous space (which the leakster claims is four times larger than that in "Mass Effect 3") to find a place suitable for mankind to start anew.

Along the way, there will be a range of alien races to meet. Some can be hostile while others can be accommodating, and gamers should be able to pick out who can help them with their bold mission as they amass resources and assemble settlements. As players go about the meteoric setting, they will unearth the remains of an ancient civilization left by the Remnant, which will be the ultimate key in controlling the danger-ridden cluster.

Gamers will also have to build a Strike Team to perform time-sensitive missions. This team will be controlled by AI and players will find the squad's mercenary members as they go about their quest. Players will recruit seven crew members who possess distinct abilities as well as unique backstories. Companion characters include a Krogan named Drack and a biotic user named Cora.

A multiplayer Horde mode will send players and three of their pals to a melee against "waves of enemy troops on various battlefields throughout the galaxy." These foes will get more and more difficult to beat as players finish their objectives.

Of course, there will be XP to collect as well as in-game currency. The leakster also revealed that "Mass Effect 4" will allow players to fly in a spacecraft and travel around onboard the Mako without load screens.
