'GTA 5' Christmas DLC update: 'Festive Surprise' gives players the Christmas fix

While "Grand Theft Auto V" gamers are killing time waiting for the 2015 unveiling of the much-awaited, long-promised "Heists" DLC, Rockstar gets them all covered with a Christmas-themed DLC package. Set to be released before the holidays kick in, the "Festive Surprise" DLC has everyone excited with all-new Christmas goodies that will bring more holiday cheer and even more crime flurry.

"Hopefully you agree that yesterday's new trailer is a sign that Heists are shaping up nicely, but we still need some time to fine tune them," a representative from Rockstar answered in a Q & A session. "Because we need a little time to get Heists right, we are going to give you a small Christmas gift to keep you entertained until we are done with them."

A brand new homing missile launcher will be accessible with the DLC as well as loads of proximity mine weapons. Rockstar is making them all permanent in "GTA Online" but the item called Firework Launcher will only be usable from Christmas Eve to Jan. 6 next year. But here to stay are the host of impressive cars the DLC will give. There is the Hot Rod Christmas Ratloader, the Vapid Slam Van along with a Dewbauchee Massacro and select Jester sports cars.

While perpetrating the illegal in Los Santos and Blain County, players can dress up in the infamous ugly sweaters of the season, some festive scarves, Christmas-sy hats and merry masks. There will be some good old long johns, elf and gingerbread masks, even some new tattoos as well as elf and Santa jumpers and a t-shirt bearing a cute snowman and a reindeer. All this will also help them with the snowy days Rockstar assured will land on the crime-laden city as the holiday closes in.

Meanwhile until Jan. 5, the Holiday Special Crate Drops will be up and running as well. This will help gamers get a hold of new and select vintage "GTA" tees that appeared in previous Social Club Event Weekends. Since Christmas is the season of giving, presents under the Christmas tree are almost expected. The download is at 1.23 GB.
